Early times Report JAMMU, Apr 4: Banquet Hall Owners Association-Jammu (BHOA-J) has welcomed the decision of the State Government to ban the usage of disposable items by banquets and marriage halls where social gatherings of all kinds are being organized. Addressing a press conference here today at Press Club of Jammu, the president of the Association Subhash Chander Sharma along with its chairman Karan Singh, secretary general Abhishek Gupta, cashier Sanjay Gupta, Manohar Singh, Mangat Ram Gupta and others while hailing the decision of the central government said putting a blanket ban on the usage of disposable items including plates, cups, glasses and spoons during a function organized in banquet halls is a step taken in the right direction. Speaking on the occasion, Subhash Chander Sharma said that the order issued by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change under SRO 23, dated: March 26, 2019, will have a far reaching consequence as it will help in safeguarding the fast deteriorating environment to a great extent. Sharma said that the government's move to ban the disposable items should be whole heartedly supported by one and all adding that each and everyone owning the banquets should ensure to do away with the practice of using disposables which are considered to be harmful for the environment. "I take this opportunity to appeal all the banquet hall owners of Jammu province to completely comply with the order issued by the Union Ministry of Environment. I urge all those owning the banquets and marriage halls to refrain from using disposable items in their premises," said Sharma. |
