Separatists relax as NC, PDP step into their shoes
One calls India an occupation, other praising militants in rallies
4/4/2019 11:04:58 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 4: Separatists in Kashmir, known otherwise for their anti-India rants have all of a sudden gone silent as they find mainstream political groups doing their work at ease.
As one goes through the statements issued by the separatists including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Syed Ali Geeleni since past one month, there are hardly two to three handouts issued by them to the press. Reason: the mainstream political parties like PDP and National Conference are spitting enough anti-India venom that Geelani and Mirwaiz feel like going for some recreation.
A Srinagar based scribe termed the situation as precarious and interesting. According to him, this is for the first time that such anti India campaign is launched by the regional political parties in Kashmir that same belittles the separatists. "Some are demanding separate post of Prime Minister while some are asking militants to support them during polls. There are people who are equating India with Israel and proudly predict that India will soon be called as an occupational force in Kashmir. Tell me what for do you need the separatists now," asked the Scribe who works for a New Delhi based news house.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, PDP President predicted that by 2020m, India's relations with Jammu and Kashmir will be over if Article 35-A is scrapped and at the same time this former chief minister said India will be viewed as an occupational force if it revokes Jammu and Kashmir's special status.
"The relationship between our state and the country is based on our special constitutional position that legitimises it. If we remove, what legalises this relationship, it will turn into an occupation", Mehbooba said.
On the other hand, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah in poll rallies is busy advocating that Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country are two different entities and that if his party comes to power, he will restore the post of separate PM and President for Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, NC's Candidate for Baramulla constituency sought open support from militants so that they could help him win elections. "I know Omar and Dr Farooq would be angry, but I want to tell you 'tik tik' wala (terrorists), I am talking about you today, when I'm nothing. Tomorrow when I will win, I will talk about you and your cause more - what has happened to you? Why will you go to my workers' place? Why will you harass him? Then he won't vote for me, which means sending BJP candidate to parliament, one who is against your Kashmir cause," Lone said in his March 30 rally.
He earlier even praised Pakistan at a time when India was fighting war against it for supporting terrorism on its soil. " Wo musalmaan mulk hai, wo abaad rahay, hamari aur unki dosti baday, uss dosti ka mai ashiq hun…Agar unko koi aik gali dega mai unko yahan se dass galiyan dunga," Lone said in his address.
