BJP rubbishes bribery charges, will sue Leh Press Club | | | JAMMU:
Bhartiya Janta Party will sue the members of Leh Press Club, said BJP MLC Vikram Randhawa. It may be recalled that Randhawa and BJP state president Ravinder Raina have been accused by the members of Leh press of an attempt to bribe them by handing them over cash in envelopes after a recent press meet in Leh. While the Leh scribes have already lodged a Police complaint, a video of the alleged incident also went viral on the social media. BJP leader Vikram Randhawa accused the members of Leh press of “cheap tactics”. He alleged that few press persons in Leh are affiliated to the Congress. Out-rightly rejecting the bribery charge, Randhawa said, “They (press) were frustrated with the level of campaign we ran in Ladakh. Since others were not able to do much, they cooked up this story against us”.
Pointing to the media persons in Jammu, Randhawa said, “The Leh press is zero compared to you. Scribes in Jammu are people of high character. The Leh press is nothing”. He said this, perhaps, to seek favourable coverage in Jammu at a time when the Leh bribery case is finding space in the national press, much to the displeasure of BJP. A fact-finding inquiry into complaints that J&K BJP leaders handed money in envelopes to media persons in Leh to report in the party’s favour ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in Ladakh has found prima facie merit in the bribery allegations. |
