Stinking Landoi nallah, choked drains, dilapidated lanes: Welcome to Ajeet Nagar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 7: Stinking Landoi nallah, choked drains and dilapidated lanes of Sahibzada Ajeet Singh Nagar have made the lives of thousands of residents miserable. Editor, Early Time Munish Gupta, who would be contesting the forthcoming Assembly elections as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency, carried forward his mass contact programme in Ajeet Singh Nagar's Ward No. 73, Friends Colony and Jeevan Nagar's Ward No. 58. Locals told Munish that the main nallah which flows through their locality is mostly uncovered. The filth accumulated on the bed of nallah emanates foul smell and has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies. "Since our areas have come under Municipal limit, we have time and again asked the local administration and even newly elected local councilors to carry out a sanitation drive to clear the accumulated filth on the bed of nallah but they have never paid any heed towards our pleas as a result we are being forced to live in unhygienic condition," said Ganesh Sharma. A local Gorav Sharma said that local councilor has not even installed a single street light. However, during the election the newly elected councilor Yudhbeer Singh had promised us that if he wins all the development work would be carried on priority basis but he failed to keep up his promise. "Our lane is in dilapidated condition, the drains are choked. The safai karamchari deputed in our area never come here", said former Naib Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh. Castigating the callous approach of newly elected councillor Yudhveer Singh, Bupinder Kour and Gurupreet Kour residing near the Gurudwara said that before getting elected from the Ward no. 73, the councilor made tall promises. He told us that street lights will be installed and thereafter other works will be carried out. "After winning the elections he never visited our area," they said. Ravinder Kour and Supinder Kour both residing near the Star Kidz School told Munish Gupta that the drain in their area has been blocked for the past many months. "We have repeatedly urged the sanitation workers and others to get this drain cleaned but our pleas have fallen into deaf ears," they told Munish. |
