Amit Shah hits the ground, Kashmir centric politicians confused
6/7/2019 11:45:31 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 7: The new union Home Minister, Amit Shah, hitting the ground soon after assuming the charge has left the Kashmir centric politicians high and dry. According to the media reports Shah has held series of meetings with the top officials to discuss the prevailing situation in Kashmir and the steps which could be taken to end the dominance of the few people in the Valley. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "The Kashmir centric politicians have been pushed to the wall as they know that their dominance has ended and they can no longer call the shots." He said that history stands testimony to the fact that since 1947, Kashmiri leaders just concentrated on the Valley and ignored the aspirations of Jammu and Ladakh regions. "Now the time has changed and the present regime at the Centre seems least interested in giving much importance to these leaders. The new Union Home Minister has already made his intentions clear that there would be no compromise on Kashmir and the mainstream leaders who act as the advocates of separatists and secessionist elements," the analyst added. He said that the Peoples Democratic Party biting dust in the recently held Lok Sabha elections has vindicated the stand of nationalist elements, who have been demanding that the nationalist people in Kashmir need to be groomed and given a chance to prove their mettle. "Since the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the reins of the country there has been significant shift in Government of India's Kashmir policy. From 2014 to 2019, PM Modi did not allow the secessionist elements to have their way. Now he has returned to power with the thumping majority and it means that the mainstream leaders in Kashmir can no more take the things for granted," the analyst added. A Kashmir watcher said, "The Prime Minister Modi has handed over the Home Ministry to his most trust lieutenant Amit Shah. The BJP led NDA government during its first stint had made it amply clear that Kashmir problem has to be resolved till 2024 and it appears that the NDA 2.0 is on the job from the day one." He said, "Kashmir centric politicians will have to change their style of politics and need to put the national interests first if they want to survive. If they don't do so they would lose New Delhi's support forever and would stand isolated and cornered. Amit Shah is a tough man and he cannot tolerate anti-national elements."
