Airports accessible for differently-abled | HC gives 4 weeks to file status report | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 24: The J&K High Court on Wednesday directed Director Airports of Jammu-Leh-Srinagar, and the Airport Authority of India to file status report without four weeks regarding earlier direction about making the three airports completely accessible to the differently abled. The direction was issued by a division bench of the court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rashid Ali while hearing a Public Interest Litigation. When the matter came up for hearing, on the request of ASGI, the court granted granted six weeks time to for filling report on behalf of Indian Air Force. The court directed the airport directors, Srinagar, Jammu as well as Leh and the Airport Authority of India to coordinate with MrNipun Malhotra ([email protected]) and cause a disability access audit of the three airports to be undertaken. "Recommendation to be obtained so that all the -2- three airports are made completely accessible to the differently abled. The Airport Authority of India shall ensure that all measures as are essential for enabling access to the airports as well as aircrafts and all other facilities are provided at the airports." |
