Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Jammu, July 24: In a major success for security forces, a Lashker-e-Toiba militant from Kishtwar who was active for last one year has surrendered before the army and Doda police. As per the details available with "Early Times", 33-year-old Jamal Din, son of Kher Din, a resident Nagnigard, Keshwan in Kishtwar, had joined the LeT last year. Jamal Din was involved in FIR No. 248 of 2010 registered by Kishtwar police in connection with the murder of mother of encounter specialist cop Sub Inspector Qasim Din and had remained in jail for some years. He was arrested by the Kishtwar police on 12-08-2015 after he along with his brother were found moving under suspicious circumstances inside Chowghan ground wearing burka. Jamal's elder brother Habib Gujjar alias Salman was a dreaded militant of LeT and was eliminated by the security forces in Keshwan area in August 2011. The sources said that after the death of his mother in Keshwan, Jamal Din was disappointed as he failed to even participate in the burial of his mother and finally made his mind to surrender before the police and chose Doda as safe for the same. Meanwhile, in a joint press conference by SSP Operation Doda Ravinder Paul Singh, CO 26 RR Sanjay Higra, SDPO Bhaderwah Adil Rishu and encounter specialist Cop Shiv Krishan Sharma claimed that Jamal Din was apprehended by the police and recovered one AK 47 rifle, its magazine, rounds and a pouch from his position beside some personal items used by him. Police has registered the case in this regard and has started its investigation. He was said to be injured in an encounter last month. |
