Saving Birds: DLSA Jammu, JKSGPB host awareness prog for students | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 24: District Legal Services Authority, in association with J&K State Gurudwara Prabandak Board (JKSGPB), Jammu, today organised an awareness programme on the theme "Welcoming Back the twittering and chirping of the Birds, by reviving the age-old culture/tradition of feeding the birds in saucers". The awareness event was held under the supervision of Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Jammu, Naushad Ahmed Khan, here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mubarak Mandi. Principal of the school, Anita Zutshi also graced the programme and explained the students about the various environmental issues that people face in day to day life i.e. land management, waste disposal, pollution and deforestation etc and also highlighted how the birds are important to human beings. An interaction session with students was also held wherein their queries were replied. The Chairman, J&K State Gurudwara Prabandak Board and the Principal of the host school presented saucers to the students and faculty members present over there for feeding the birds. The main objective of the programme was placing the saucers with water and feed at the gardens, terraces and court yards, etc of their homes. The Principal Anita Zutshi requested the District Legal Services Authority Jammu to organize more such enlightening programmes in the near future.
