Prof. recalls martyrs for Kargil Vijay operation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 27: The former Union Minister of State for Defence, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has eulogised the celebrating of anniversary of Kargil Vijay operations in a big way and observed that this depicts the resolve of the nation to defend every inch of its territory and remember the sacrifices of the brave hearts who dislodged the enemy from high altitude hills of Kargil. He said that though it was a most difficult task but was achieved with a great determination and valour of the soldiers and officers of our army. This would go a long way in the annals of any war history. Prof. Gupta recalled that the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, being a great statesman, travelled in a bus from Delhi to Lahore to have peace and tranquillity to keep up with the maximum that "Friends can be changed but not the neighbours." Well known declaration of Lahore was signed to sort out all issues through dialogue and in a friendly manner. But this declaration had yet to find the day of light, the jehadis of theocratic state of Pakistan surreptitiously infiltrated and entrenched themselves on high altitude positions which remain vacated with understanding of both the sides during the winter months because of the vagaries of the weather. Prof. Gupta said that it was height of inhumanity that at the end of Kargil operations, Pakistan declined to have the bodies of their soldiers for the final disposal by saying that they were not their men and this task too was performed by the Indian Army. Later after some months the Pakistani General confirm that the killed were the Jawans of a battalion strength of their Army. |
