Jammu, Oct 10: On the occasions of" World Mental Health Day" BMO Kandi with other health officials organized a function for the awareness of Mental diseases under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer, Rajouri Dr. Sanjeev Puri BMO Kandi, Dr. Iqbal Malik gave a powerpoint presentation on the occasion. He interacted with the ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, Prominent citizens, PRI, NGO, and students and delivered a comprehensive lecture on Mental disorders. He said that government efforts are not only sufficient to deal with this sensitive issue but entire society should take a pledge and contribute to rooting out this dreaded disease from society He said as per the World health report 2001 magnitude of the mental disorder is 10 to 15% of the adult population, and accounts for 20% economic burden in India, according to the latest World Health Organization report on depression almost 7.5% of Indians suffer from major or minor mental disorders that require expert intervention. |
