After two months of results' declaration, JKPSC yet to decide fate of 11 KAS qualified candidates | In a petition in HC, disability of some candidates is challenged | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) is yet to decide the fate of 11 candidates, who have shown qualified the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) exams the result of which was declared on August 8, but are yet to get green signal to join their services. A petition, pending in High Court, has reportedly challenged the disability of some candidates, alleging that some of them have got fake certificates of disability and the court had directed the JKPSC to submit reply till October 10 but so far no response has been got by petitioners. According to sources, the JKPSC had declared the result of 277 posts of JKAS 2016 after which the candidates were deployed for medical reports from respective Government Medical Colleges of Jammu and Kashmir region. "A total of 11 candidates out of total 277 have not got the medical reports as reports of some of them were also challenged by some petitioners in the court of law due to which their medical reports were not forwarded by JKPSC to General Administration Department (GAD) for joining", sources said. Petitioners informed Early Times that some of the candidates have managed to qualify the KAS exams by furnishing the fake medical reports. "One candidate has got job on the pretext of disability of vision but the same candidate has got driving license of Light Motor Vehicle (LMV), which is not possible without a medical certificate", the petitioners have alleged, adding that another candidate, who has been shown qualified had got a rod inserted in his right leg, but it accounted for merely 10-12 percent eligibility but on the other hand the candidates with over 40 percent disability have been denied the place in the list. The petitioners further alleged that many candidates have produced the fake disability certificates and have got themselves selected while the genuine deserving candidates have been ignored. "The High Court Bench headed by Justice Tashi Rabastan had directed the JKPSC to consider our petition and asked the Commission to take action till October 10 and submit reply but so far we are totally unaware as what action JKPSC has been taken and the authorities are also out of bounds for us", the petitioner alleged. The petitioners further alleged that the discrepancies in the disability certificates could be gauged from the fact that a candidate, who has been working as Sub-Inspector in the Jammu and Kashmir Police has been in the waiting list of handicapped category with locomotor disability. "How a medically fit person selected as SI could be shortlisted in disability category, which exposes the veracity of the certificates issued by Medical institutes", the candidates alleged. Sources in the JKPSC pleading anonymity said that they had sought medical reports of all the candidates, who had qualified the JKAS exams. "In case of the candidates with disability, the department had furnished incomplete reports, in which percentage of disability along with the departments for which the candidates are eligible was not mentioned", sources said, adding that after the representations from the candidates, the JKPSC had re-sought the medical reports from the Government Medical College Jammu and Srinagar, along with percentage of disability as well as departments, for which the candidates would be fit to serve. "The medical reports have been sent by both the hospitals and the JKPSC would soon take decision on them", the official said. Secretary of JKPSC, Rajesh Sharma said that decision over the matter would be taken probably in a week's time. |
