Poonch, Oct 10: Public Works (Road and Building) Department and Rural Development Department have indulged in gross negligence in construction of bunkers for the people living in border areas of Poonch.
The carelessness in the construction of bunkers in village Ajote could be gauged from the fact that they have been logged with water making them useless for shelter during firing across the border.
Sources told Early Times that the local people of village Ajote had alleged that the PWD (R&B) and RDD had constructed the bunkers in the village but the construction was not up to the mark due to which it started seeping inside and filled with water.
"We are facing huge problem due to water inside the bunkers, which has rendered them useless. What will we do now in case firing gets started here. The main purpose of constructing them has been defeated and has put our lives in danger," said Latif, a local of village Ajote.
DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav when contacted said that he has not received any complaint regarding this issue.
"If someone facing is such a problem then he can come to me directly. I will take action against the department if some irregularities were found," DDC Poonch said. |
