Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 10: The arbitrary and unjustified timings of the private schools evoked severe criticism from parents in particular and children in general.
As per the details available with "Early Times", various reports emanating from the different quarters reveal that the private schools running in Jammu province have their own set of timings for the children for primary, middle and secondary level classes.
As the private schools have their monopoly and they run the schools at their own whims and fancies, the Parents alleged that the schools have set up arbitrary timings like 8:30 AM and the children are being told to reach sharp at 8:20 AM and in case the children are late by few minutes-- they are being told to go back home on getting late.
This dictatorial attitude of the school authorities have left the parents and children fuming with anger.
The parents said, "Is there any such order from the Director Education in this regard that allows the schools to send children back to home if they get late by few minutes?
One of parents, whose daughter studies in private school situated at Janipur, told that her daughter being late by just few minutes due to traffic jam but the school receptionist was so adamant that she did not allow my daughter to enter the school and mother wishing anonymity rued that even my cousin sister also alighted from the car to insist the receptionist of the school to allow my daughter, but she didn't relent and at last my daughter who is in primary class has to return.
He said that if the children are late then impose a fine instead of adopting harsh punishment of sending them back.
It is pertinent to mention herein that Director school education Jammu has issued a circular for Government schools for the fixation of timings in Government schools within city limits be open from 9 AM to 3 PM whereas for Government schools in mufassil areas, the timing is from 10 AM to 4 PM.
