JKBWA urges Guv for reservation in promotion in services | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association held its general body meeting at Shahzadpur which was chaired by Sarpanch Subedar Gaseeta Ram Lakhotra and attended by a huge majority of Batwal Community members hailing from different of the State. The meeting discussed the reservation policy for Scheduled Castes and urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to order for implementation of reservation in promotion for Scheduled Castes and other categories in services as the Union Government has passed a legislation to this effect. The Association members said that the main objective of providing reservation to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in civil posts and services of the Government is not just to give job to some persons belonging to these communities and thereby increase their representation in the services but to uplift these people socially and educationally and to keep some place for them in the society. With this object in view, the Chief Architect of the Constitution of India Dr B.R. Ambedkar had kept the provision of reservation for these communities in the Constitution, added the Association members. Prominent among those who were in the meeting included Capt. Om Parkash, Capt. Ram Lal, Capt. Kamal Chand, Sub. Maj. Romes Sargotra, Sub. Maj. Gunni Ram, Sub. Baldev Chand. |
