2 years on, culvert work lying incomplete at village Dehari | RDD releases no payment | | Ashwani Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 28: The apathetic attitude of Rural Development Department can be gauged from the fact that it failed to complete culvert work which was started two years ago for not releasing fund at village Dehari of Tehsil Ramnagar of district Udhampur. Sources told Early Times that nearly two years ago, a work of culvert was sanctioned by RDD under MGNREGA at the cost of Rs 4 lakhs for village Dehari Trutian Boli of Ward No 7 and the work was allotted to a local villager Ram Lal. "Department asked me to carry out work and assured that payment will be made in parts but despite spending Rs 2 lakhs from my pocket for purchasing material, no payment was given to me by the department. Department released only Rs 20,000 to me for clearing payment to labourers. Now, I am totally penniless but department has not been releasing payment for completing work. Even I contacted the concerned JE for making visit on spot but he didn't," alleged Ram Lal. He further said that now it has been two years, till date no payment has been made. "I made number of visits to concerned BDO, ACD office and put forth my problem before them but nothing has been done on their part as a result the culver lying incomplete depriving the people of the village of this facility due to which they have been put to inconvenience," he said.
