We are fighting enemies within, from across LoC, says Solicitor General | Kashmir likely to remain without internet | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 28: The Jammu & Kashmir government has hinted that there are bleak possibilities about internet being restored in Kashmir as it fears that it could be misused by the people sitting across the Line of Control to instigate the masses in the Valley. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appearing for J&K administration in the Supreme Court said that "we are fighting enemies within and also from across the LoC." He cited inflammatory speeches of Kashmir-centric leaders prior to August 5 and highlighted the attempts made by the Pakistan to trigger violence in the Valley after centre reorganized Jammu & Kashmir. Mehta made it clear during his arguments that, "There are only two options either to have the internet or not to have it. There can't be restricted internet," he told the Apex Court. An analyst while talking to Early Times said that, "People of Kashmir are suffering due to mistakes committed by the mainstream leaders, who used twitter and facebook accounts for spreading hate against the country."Interestingly these Kashmir-centric leaders became active after they lost power," the analyst added. He said, "On the other hand, Pakistan sponsored terrorists and their handlers sitting across the Line of Control made full use of social media networking sites to glorify terrorism and radicalize the youth. Terror outfits left no chance to spread violence through different social media networking sites." An observer said that in absence of internet terrorists are using threat posters as a tool to create fear among the people. "There is no doubt about the fact that internet blockade in the Valley has hit every section of the society but it seems that security agencies have done their home work well and have driven home a point that the restoration of internet in Kashmir can act as an impediment towards restoration of peace in the Valley." The observer said that, "As it is Kashmir is grappling with number of issues. The Pakistan sponsored terrorists are not allowing people to resume the daily chores and are making every attempt to keep the life disrupted." He said that Supreme Court has reserved its decision on the pleas challenging Kashmir curbs. "We'll have to wait till the decision comes but one thing is for sure that no one in the country at this point of time will give a handle to the enemy to create disturbances in the Valley," the observer added. |
