Sarpanch to boycott Back to village campaign | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 28: A Sarpanch of a panchayat has announced to boycott the Back to Village programme, terming its second phase as an 'eye wash' attempt. He accused government authorities of their failure to come clear on development proposals devised in first phase of the much publicised programme. Addressing a press conference in Rajouri, Sarpanch Shokat Ali from Larkuti panchayat of Rajouri's Budhal Old (Kotranka) panchayat said that the first phase of the programme was held five to six months ago during which all the PRIs and common masses took part in the programme. "There was a fresh ray of hope for the PRIs and local population and everyone was expecting that development in panchayats will receive a boost through the initiative," said Sarpanch Shokat who added that development plans were prepared but unfortunately the same have been shelved. "Instead of coming up with a policy to implement the maiden phase, government authorities have come up with phase second but now it seem as if government is just trying to divert the attention of masses." said Shokat. He asked JK Lieutenant Governor Secretariat to come up with detailed figures to show how much funds have been sanctioned for implementation of reports devised in first phase and start of works finalised in Gram Sabhas. |
