Udhampur, Mar 9: Believe it or not, the road blacktopped 20 years back was never looked back by the concerned authorities and it has turned dilapidated for last many years thereby increasing the problems of the commuters.
The road from Chowki to Katwalt is about 7 km in length was constructed by PWD has become the burning demand for the public regarding its repair. Many children face problems while using this road to reach their schools while office goers too have similar problems. “To reach my school I have to cross all the mud and clay as the road mostly remains slippery. Sometimes students even fall of slips and have their clothes spoiled,” Anita —a class 5th students in a nearby school told this reporter.
“Few days back work was started on the road and now is underway but the sub-standard materials are using continue by the concern contractor as well authorities and the road has turned into the shape it was earlier with all slippery conditions and clay,” Mohinder sharma —a local residential informed. People have urged to the Lieutenant Governor to intervene and get the road repaired so that they may heave a sigh of relief. When contacted XEN PWD Pawan Gupta and he said that I look into the matter personally and take action against the contractor as well concerned who were responsible for this practice means use sub standards materials in repair work of the road.
