Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 9: Two days training camp in sport climbing being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi started today at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in the premises of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu. The camp was inaugurated by Chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Rahul Sharma who is also Patron of Tawi Trekkers J&K, in the presence of Ram Khajuria, Sr. Vice President; Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary; Shivani Charak, an international medalist in Sport Climbing, Sumit Khajuria, a senior member, Sonam Sidharth, Abhimanyu Sherpa, Ajay Deep and Arun Deep Singh, national medalists; Sakshi Magotra, Vishali Sharma, Akash Sharma and the trainees. The purpose of the coaching camp in which about 50 boys & girls in the age group of 10 to 14 years, are participating, is to promote sport climbing, an Olympic discipline, among J&K youth in general and to strengthen the J&K women team in particular for the forthcoming zonal & national competitions in which the Association plans to depute a number of competent climbers. Such camps shall be conducted every month. Those climbers who excel during these camps shall also be deputed for further coaching at International standard climbing walls at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the national body for adventure sports in the country.
