UDHAMPUR, Apr 11: In the wake of deadly Coronavirus spreading its tentacles in Udhampur town and adjoining areas, people of village Garnahi, Ward Number 5 have self-isolated themselves by putting thorny bushes at entrance and exit points of their hamlet. “We are here to help out cops and para-military personnel by helping ourselves,” Sushma Rani, a housewife in the village told this reporter. As per sources, the village has no case of COVID-19 infection so far. The educated people of the village have made placards, posters with awareness messages for safeguarding from the coronavirus written on them. “The village is totally locked, even no shops are opened in our area. We will follow the lockdown properly and give the message to public at large to respect the lockdown. Stay home as and maintain social distancing as it is very necessary for the safety of our life,” a shopkeeper said. Almost the entire village folks have covered their faces with masks or cloth pieces and it appears that they have resolved to keep their village safe from the Ccoronavirus. Many youth remain on roads to check any outsider entering the hamlet and doing so they properly maintain social distancing. Police department and administration has lauded the villagers and have asked others to follow their footsteps to defeat the coronavirus.
