SWD provides expired food stuff to Anganwari centres in Chatroo | | | ASIF IQBAL NAIK Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 11: In a major goof up, the Social Welfare Department (SWD) under its Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme provided expiry food items to the Angwari centers in Chatroo for further distribution among the children thus putting the lives of tiny tots to risk. As per the details available with Early Times, the food stuff with expiry period was distributed in Panchayat Lower Chatroo-A under ICDS through Panchayat members with active involvement of the officials of the department at Inderwal. The locals inform the Early Times that they were shocked to find some food stuff purchased from the local shopkeeper was carrying expiry date over it. The people inform that after noticing expiry date of certain food stuff, they immediately raise alarm and also brought the matter into the notice of concerned officials. The locals of Panchayat Lower Chatroo-A demanded action against the people involved in this major goof up and also demanded registration of an FIR against the shopkeeper as well as against the concerned officials for putting the lives of minor children at risk that could even claim their lives.
