Security forces arrest suspected JeM operative from RS Pura | | | Early Times Report
RS Pura , Apr 11: A suspected terrorist with links to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has been arrested by security forces from Ranbir Singh Pura (RS Pura) in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources told that evidence of Hawala transfers and as many as five SIM cards were recovered from the suspect. Security forces have reason to believe that the suspect was in constant touch with Jaish-e-Mohammed commanders based out of Pakistan. The suspect has been identified as one Muzaffar Ahmad Beigh, a resident of Handwara in Kupwara. A case has been filed against Muzaffar under sections 13, 17 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act along with section 121-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Jammu Police have registered an FIR in this regard and further investigation is underway. On April 9, security forces had arrested one Bashir Ahmad Beigh from Baramullah district. At the time of his arrest, officers recovered an AK-47 rifle and some ammunition. Bashir was reportedly a militant with ties to the JeM, the same as Muzaffar. Another JeM militant, a commander identified as Sajad Nawab Dar was killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore area of Baramulla district on Wednesday. Dar was identified after he opened fire at security forces during an ongoing cordon and search operation (CASO). Security forces had gunned down four terrorists, including a Hizbul Mujahideen commanded from Anantnag, in Watrigama village on March 15 of this year. This operation was carried out by a joint team of the Army's 19 RR and Special Operations Group (SOG).
