Alcohol and Drugs De- Addiction
Omkar Dattatray4/11/2020 10:23:07 PM
Alcohol and drugs addiction has become a big social problem. Both the government and the society are confronted with this problem. The alcohol and the drugs are a great health hazard and those who are addicted to these suffer both health problems and also financially. Drinking as well as taking of the drugs is morally and socially undesirable as such we should abstain from both of these unhealthy practices. The habit of drinking and taking of drugs is an anti social and anti human activity and as such these should be banned for the benefit of the society. Not that there are no laws to deal with this issue and what is required is the strict implementation of the laws for the good of the society. Drinking and addiction to drugs affects the health of those who are addicted to it .These practices destroy individual and family life and these habits are a drain on the society. Therefore we should fight the alcohol and drugs with education and awareness. So, awareness and education campaign should be continuously undertaken to break the bone of these two bad habits. Alcohol and drugs are both anti religion are prohibited by all the religions of the world and so should we abstain from these habits for own and societal good. Both the liquor and the use of drugs make one's life heal and the person affected by these addictions become a burden on the society and so should we educate the masses about the bad effects of the liquor and the use of the drugs. We should not hate the alcohol and drug addict but hate the alcohol and the dangerous drugs. Only government only cannot fight the menace of the liquor and the use of drugs but the society and NGOs should supplement the governmental efforts of de-addiction. De-addiction is the answer to this problem which has assumed gigantic proportions. Government should open more and more de-addiction centres and enrol the drug and alcohol addicts in these centres. Society should also open its de-addiction centres to supplement the governmental efforts. These centres should be both de-addiction as well as the counselling centres. These centres can fight the problem of addiction of alcohol and drugs. These centres should give awareness and education to the addicts so that they shun these bad and anti social habits. Along with these centres the government should strictly implement the narcotic and psychotropic substances act and ensure that people are saved from the use of alcohol and the use of drugs. These drugs and the use of the liquor affect both the psychical as well as the mental health and hence we should not fall prey to these anti social habits and practices. We should rather help the government in fighting these bad habits. We can fight the use of drugs and the alcohol with the help of education and awareness campaigns. Plays, anti drug and anti-alcohol rallies should be conducted whereby the disadvantages of the use of alcohol and drugs should be made known to the people. The education department and the health department should take the initiative of imparting the knowledge about the ill effects of the use of alcohol and the drugs. These departments of the government should co-operate and jointly fight this menace for the good of the society. Along with the education and awareness, the de-addiction and counselling centres should play their part in the de-addiction of the alcohol and drugs among those who have been in the habit of these bad practices .Religious preachers can also play their part in the de-addiction in their own way. The drinking as well as the use of drugs is prohibited by all religions and so should the religious preachers teach to the people the ill effects of the alcohol and the use of drugs. The addiction of the drugs is so bad that sometimes the effect of the use of drugs even break the marriages and thus it is socially very undesirable. The marriage which has been solemnised with great fanfare is sometimes broken because of the drug addiction and imagines the feelings of the parents on this. The addiction of drugs and the liquor destroys the physical, mental, social as well as family life. Thus all of us should take the lead and contribute in fighting the problem for the individual and social good. Anyway the problem of the drug and alcohol addiction can be fought by de-addiction and counselling as well as by the strict implementation of the laws as well as by education and awareness.
