Committee constituted to look into working of cooperative sector hailed | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 17: It is heartening to know that the incumbent union territory Administration has constituted a high level officers committee with the mandate to look into the working of cooperative sector across the J&K and suggest revival plan within a time bound period. This was stated by Balbir Singh Manhas, President cooperative school. The decision deserves to be lauded, welcomed and appreciated by all those who are associated with cooperative sector. Cooperative movement in the erstwhile J&K state has played a remarkable role in different economic sectors and has substantially contributed in re-shaping and re-modeling of the state’s economy. However, for some obvious reasons working of the cooperative sector has been adversely affected and today majority of the cooperative institutions are impaired both financially and managerially, said Manhas. Manhas further said that stake holders while appreciating decision regarding constitution of committee, also feel dishearten and discouraged as they have not been provided representation in the committee to present the state of affairs of the sector they represent. |
