Anantnag, May 17: A 35-year-old pregnant lady and 14 policemen on Sunday tested positive for coronavirus in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district during last 24 hours taking the number cases in the district to one hundred seventy seven (177). Dr. Saleem Khan Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar told Early Times that 15 fresh cases were reported at CD hospital Lab on Sunday. “Fresh cases include 14 policemen and a pregnant lady,” he confirmed to Early Times. He further added that all these 15 samples were received from Anantnag district. “14 cops include 35-year-old from Arhama Ganderbal, 40-year-old from Aham Sharief Sopore, 28-year-old from Sopore, 43-year-old from Kadipora Anantnag, 41-year-old from Katainwat Baramulla, 41-year-old from Titwal Karnah Kupwara, 45-year-old from Malpora Anantnag, 45-year-old from Monghall Anantnag, 31-year-old from Hardu Schin Anantnag, 43-year-old from Nanil Anantnag, 27-year-old from Inderwaim Sagam Anantnag, 26-year-old from Srangoo Pahalgam, 45-year-old from Khalura Kupwara and one from Khayar Anantnag besides a 35-year-old pregnant lady from Nard Sanger Larnoo Anantna,” officials said. Officials said that the cops who were tested positive today are posted in Anantnag district. Last week, 8 cops had also tested positive for coronavirus in Anantnag fallowing which the police authorities decided to go for aggressive testing and an extensive fumigation drive was kick started at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag. 12 pregnant women, who tested positive yesterday, had alarmed the district administration and health authorities in Anantnag district, however Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar termed it ‘success’ for them. “We have decided every to test every single pregnant lady in the district. So far we have collected 600 samples and out of 600 samples 13 tested positive,” DC Anantnag said. He said that so far 5000 people were samples in the district and tested for coronavirus. |
