BDO Inderwal alleges blackmailing by self-styled journalist | Lodges written complaint at PS Chatroo | | ASIF IQBAL NAIK Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, May 17: The Block Development Officer Inderwal has lodged a written complaint officially against a self-styled journalist for blackmailing and threatening the RDD staff posted in Inderwal block of Kishtwar District. As per the details available with Early Times, BDO Inderwal filed a complaint against two persons including a self-styled journalist claiming to be associated with a lesser known web portal. Alleging that the duo was involved in spreading fake and unsubstantiated news through the web portal as well as through social media, the BDO Inderwal said that their actions are creating unrest in the Chatroo Sub Division during COVID 19 pandemic. He said that the duo causes disruption to the official work adding that the media person, who made a complaint of pending payment, never visited his office with his grievances. “The sole motive of the complaint appears only to tarnish the image of the department, extort money and misguiding and provoking general public without having any substantial evidence against any of the official of the block,” reads the complaint of BDO adding that the said reporter is continuously harassing the concerned officials by calling them number of times to settle the unnecessary disputes raised by the concerned reporter and the complainant to extort the money. The BDO requested the SHO Police Station Chatroo to lodge an FIR against the erring self-styled journalist and other person under relevant sections of the law. Meanwhile, the self-styled journalist in connivance with some local people from Kidru Singpura managed a so-called protest by breaking the lockdown with an aim to exert pressure and to prevent the registration of an FIR against him. However, such action of the self-styled journalist was viewed seriously by the District administration following which Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar directed SDM Chatroo to initiate action against the lockdown violators as same could be detrimental for the measures taken by the administration to prevent the spread of Corona Virus. Speaking to Early Times, the employees of RDD termed the situation as witch hunt adding that at the time when whole staff is busy in COVID-19 duty beside in implementation of various directions issued by the government through RDD department. They said that they are continuously facing harassment and called upon DC Kishtwar to intervene into the matter. They also said people are at liberty to approach investigating agencies like Anti-Corruption Bureau, Crime Branch or CBI instead of circulating messages through social media or through self-styled media persons.
