Charas recovered from MC Chairman’s private vehicle, two including councilor arrested | | | Early Times Report
Budgam, May 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested two drug peddlers including a Councillor, who as per the reports were ferrying drugs in the private vehicles of Municipality Committee Chairman Charar-e-Sharif. A police spokesperson said that during checking at exchange crossing a police party of Police Station Charar-e-Sharief intercepted one vehicle Bolero load carrier bearing registration no JK04E-0822. He said during the checking the said vehicle 450 grams of charas like substances was recovered from the procession of driver of the vehicle namely Tariq Ahmed Dar resident of Alamdar Colony Charar-e-Sharief and Noor Mohd Bhat son of Mohd Sultan resident of Trajbal Charar-e-Sharief. Both have been arrested and the said vehicle has been seized. Case under relevant provisions 8/20 NDPS act stands registered and investigation taken up. Meanwhile, sources said that during checking of vehicle documents it was found that vehicle belongs to Chairman Municipality Committee Charar-e-Sharif, Zahid Hussain Jan, who is also affiliated with Congress party. The vehicle was driven by the Municipal Councillor Tariq Ahmed Dar. However, Jan, as per a news report has denied that he owns the vehicle. He said that the does not own the vehicle as it belongs to one of his relative. He added, “Councillor Tariq Dar and his associate Noor Bhat had taken the vehicle for spray (disinfectant) purpose. Tariq told me it is too late and will take the vehicle to home. Later I came to know that charas has been recovered from them”.
