Dev Sthan Naylana lacks facilities, faces official apathy | | | ASHWANI SHARMA Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, June 12: Dev Sthan Naylana at Suman village, nearly seven kilometers from Pancheri in district Udhampur, is a holy place sacred for thousands of devotees across the Union Territory of J&K but unfortunately the shrine and its surroundings are still awaiting development. Considered to be abode of 33 crore deities, this religious place is of paramount significance and reverence for Hindu community. The road linking to the religious place is in very bad shape as thick wild growth has engulfed it, moreover, the dilapidated condition of the connectivity with the mainland also diminishes the possibility of a proper transport facility so as to reach this place. “No government has ever cared to develop this place though a pilgrimage is also organized at the place of Nayalaya Dev Sthan annually. According to ancient tradition, people from different regions travel twice a month to pay obeisance,” Raman Gupta, a local informed. Locals informed that there is no eatery at the religious place and no water supply while it also lacks a resting place which adds to the woes of the visiting pilgrims. The priest of the temple highlighted importance of the place and said that devotees from distant places and also from other states visit here. He urged upon the concerned authorities to intervene and provide basic facilities to the religious place.
