SRINAGAR, June 12: After a day’s respite the Corona Virus cases crossed the 150 mark today in Jammu & Kashmir with the travelers accounting for more than 50 percent of cases more so in Jammu division. At the same time one more death was reported and as such the toll due to COVID-19 reached 53. Reports said that a man from Kalakote in Rajouri district became the latest casualty of Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir. This is the sixth COVID-19 related death in the Jammu division with 47 such deaths taking place in the Kashmir valley. In most of the cases the involvement of deceased with Corona Virus has been confirmed after their death. Reports said that Shopian reported 38 fresh cases of Corona Virus today followed by Kathua 26 cases, Ramban 21 cases, Samba 14 cases, Poonch 12 cases, Jammu eight cases, Baramulla seven cases, Budgam six cases, Srinagar and Kupwara five cases each, Pulwama four cases, Doda three cases, Kulgam and Rajouri two cases each and Anantnag, Reasi & Kishtwar one case each. In total the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 156 fresh cases of Corona Virus among them 80 are travelers. With today’s fresh cases the total number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 4730. Among them 2,591 cases are active positive while as 2,086 Corona Virus patients have recovered so far. The Jammu & Kashmir government today informed that 156 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 88 from Jammu division and 68 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,730. Also, one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division. Moreover, 266 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 55 from Jammu division and 211 from Kashmir division. Out of 4,574 positive cases, 2,591 are active positive, 2,086 have recovered and 53 have died; six in Jammu division and 47 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 2, 54,059 test results available, 2, 49,329 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 2, 30,505 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 41,964 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 31 in hospital quarantine, 2,591 in hospital isolation and 55,738 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 30,128 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Kulgam has 570 positive cases, 334 active positive, 228 recoveries, eight deaths, Baramulla has 504 positive cases, 330 active positive, 164 recovered, 10 deaths; Srinagar has 502 positive cases, 334 active positive, 156 recovered, 12 deaths; Anantnag district has 483 positive cases, 140 active positive, 338 recovered, five deaths; Shopian has 478 positive cases, 249 active positive, 225 recovered, four deaths. “Kupwara has 381 positive cases, 105 active positive, 273 recovered, three deaths; Bandipora has 233 positive cases, 59 active positive, 173 recovered, one death; Budgam has 220 positive cases, 111 active positive, 107 recovered, two deaths; Pulwama reported 203 positive cases, 168 active positive, 33 recovered, two deaths and Ganderbal has 59 positive cases, 23 active positive, 36 recoveries,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 261 positive cases, 141 active positive, 117 recoveries, three deaths; Ramban has 193 positive cases, 156 active positive, 37 recoveries; Udhampur has 153 positive cases, 115 active positive, 37 recovered, one death; Kathua has 149 positive cases, 90 active positive, 59 recovered; Poonch has 103 positive cases, 75 active positive, 28 recoveries. “Samba has 83 positive cases, 55 active positive, 28 recoveries; Rajouri has 60 positive cases, 47 active positive, 12 recovered, one death; Doda has 49 positive cases, 28 active positive, 20 recoveries, one death; Reasi has 24 positive cases, 13 active positive, 11 recovered and Kishtwar has 22 positive cases, 18 active positive, four recovered,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
