Enhance rent amount being paid to farmers for land use on IB in Ramgarh: Manjit Singh | | | Early Times Report
Vijaypur, Sept 1: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP), Provincial President and Ex-Minister Manjit Singh today appealed to the Government of India to review and enhance rent amount given to the border farmers whose land is being used in between the ditch - fence and bunkers on the International Border. “The Government should enhance the amount of rent which they have fixed decades back and till date, the same amount is being paid to them for the fertile land close to the International Border which is being used by the defense personnel for various purposes,” said Former Minister. He said that the poor farmers should be compensated adequately after reviewing the rent for the land being utilized by the forces. He was speaking before the deputation of people from border villages like Nanga, Nathwal, Dadyal and Palota in Ramgarh Block. The deputation of farmers complained that they were not getting proper compensation for their land in border areas of Ramgarh. “The rent is very less in comparison to present day and it should be enhanced. The rent payment is often delayed leading to the suffering of the farmers,” the deputation said demanding that the rates must be re-fixed. On this occasion, over a dozen people from above said border villages also joined J&K Apni Party.
