SRINAGAR, Sept 1: The number of Corona Virus positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 38,223 as 525 fresh cases of virus were reported today. With 14 deaths reported in past 24 hours the death toll due to virus has reached 717.
Jammu district reported 121 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar 95 cases, Pulwama 36 cases, Ganderbal 34 cases, Bandipora and Kathua 28 cases each, Anantnag 26 cases, Kupwara 23 cases, Poonch 20 cases, Rajouri 19 cases, Budgam 17 cases, Baramulla 14 cases, Doda 13 cases, Samba, Reasi and Kishtwar 12 cases each, Kulgam nine cases, Udhampur four cases and Shopian two cases.
Pulwama district reported five fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Jammu three deaths, Srinagar and Budgam two deaths each and a death each in Bandipora and Samba districts. So far 647 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir with the number of casualties in Jammu being 70.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 525 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 241 from Jammu division and 284 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 38,223. Also 14 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; four from Jammu division and 10 from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 469 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 111 from Jammu Division and 358 from Kashmir Division. Out of 38,223 positive cases, 8,022 are active positive, 29,484 have recovered and 717 have died; 70 in Jammu division and 647 in Kashmir division. Out of 9, 78,882 test results available, 9, 40,659 samples have tested negative till date.
Till date 4, 64,313 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 45,845 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 8,022 in isolation and 45,944 under home surveillance. Besides, 3, 63,785 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 9,368 positive cases, 1,511 active positive, 7,634 recovered, 223 deaths; Baramulla has 2,840 positive cases, 491 active positive, 2,249 recovered, 100 deaths; Pulwama has 2,684 positive cases, 496 active positive, 2,134 recovered, 54 deaths; Budgam has 2,524 positive cases, 660 active positive, 1,802 recovered, 62 deaths; Anantnag has 2,358 positive cases, 525 active positive, 1,783 recovered, 50 deaths.
“Bandipora has 2,208 positive cases, 708 active positive, 1,474 recovered, 26 deaths; Kupwara has 2,117 positive cases, 595 active positive, 1,474 recovered, 48 deaths; Kulgam has 1,934 positive cases, 179 active positive, 1,720 recovered, 35 deaths; Shopian has 1,701 positive cases, 87 active positive, 1,586 recovered, 28 deaths and Ganderbal has 1,467 positive cases, 452 active positive, 994 recovered, 21 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 3,409 positive cases, 1,278 active positive, 2,084 recovered, 47 deaths; Kathua has 932 positive cases, 222 active positive, 707 recovered, three deaths; Rajouri has 920 positive cases, 146 active positive, 769 recovered, five deaths; Udhampur has 841 positive cases, 157 active positive, 682 recovered, two deaths; Samba has 724 positive cases, 164 active positive, 557 recovered, three deaths.
“Ramban has 654 positive cases, 18 active positive, 635 recovered, one death; Doda has 437 positive cases, 78 active positive, 355 recovered, four deaths; Poonch has 436 positive cases, 107 active positive, 325 recovered, four deaths; Reasi has 407 positive cases, 72 active positive, 335 recovered and Kishtwar has 262 positive cases, 76 active positive, 185 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 38,223 positive cases in J&K, 6,611 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
