Jammu, Sept 1: A few hours of heavy rainfall some days before wreaked havoc in many parts of Jammu. While streets were inundated, flood water entered many houses and shops in leading area. Taking stock of the damages caused by this situation in Nanak Nagar ward-42, Ch. Manmohan Singh Former Mayor Jammu and the residents of that area, along with Ashok Sharma A.E.E. JMC and Sr. Navjot Singh J.E. toured the sec., 1,3,4 & 5 of Nanak Nagar area. Ch.Manmohan appealed to LG Manoj Sinha, Principal Secy. Dheeraj Gupta ji and Commissioner Mdm. Avny Lavasa to formulate a responsive action team for times like this. They should survey areas which flood easily, find the faulty system and restore its functionality. Our citizens cannot afford these floods, especially with threat of Corona Virus hovering above us. We are already facing challenging times, now the water from rains has pooled inside houses, causing damage to electronic items, Fridge, TV, bedding and furniture also. Ch.Manmohan and Vijay Choudhary, Corporator ward 42, requested the authorities to access the damage and compensate people accordingly, it is difficult to replace the damaged goods after every floods. Ch.Manmohan Singh informed the authorities that preventive measures were taken before hand, for the rains. De-silting of drains was completed, blockages were repaired. He had taken all the steps necessary to prevent flooding. Choudhary said that landoi-choi nallah fills up and water overflows out.
