| Jammu based Columnist Dr. Rissam awarded PhD | | |

Jammu, Sept 1: Jammu based columnist, Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam, has been conferred with Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law by University of Jammu. He worked on the topic “Law and Practice Relating to Labour Welfare in the State of Jammu And Kashmir: A Study” under the guidance of Prof. Satinder Kumar (Director, Law School). In this research work, an attempt has been made to analyze employment relation, efficiency of the existing measures for social security of labour and the suggestions for securing labour welfare in J&K. This work was carried in the erstwhile state of J&K and is now an important piece of research on labour welfare issues of J&K. Prior to this, Dr. Rissam received his BSL, LLB degree from Symbiosis Law School, Pune and earned his master’s degree in law (LL.M) from University of Jammu. Dr. Rissam also furthered his studies by doing Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM) from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL), Pune. Soon after completing his LL.M he developed interest in writing and emerged as a regular columnist for newspapers of J&K. Later, he went on to pursue his Ph.D from University of Jammu. His articles are always widely read amongst readers from all across the J&K. He is also Programme Coordinator of INTACH Jammu chapter and is involved in various heritage conservation projects undertaken in Jammu. |
