Addl SP Ramban declares open inter-district, UT level Chess competitions | | | EARly Times Report
Ramban, Feb 11: Additional Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Rajni Sharma formally declared open Inter-district, UT level Chess competitions for Girls under all age groups at Government Higher Secondary School, Ramban here today. Two days competitions being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in coordination with the District Administration, which would culminate on February 12, 2021. On inaugural day 10 Chess competitions were held between teams of different districts in the first round of matches. Chief Education Officer, Vinod Koul, Dy. CEO, Subash Sharma, District Youth Services and Sport officer, Dharmveer Singh, Principal of host school, Ranjay Kumar, officials from participating districts and a large number of sport lovers attended the function. The DYSSP informed that as many as 81 girls from 10 districts of both Divisions including 4 districts from Jammu and 6 districts from Kashmir Division are participating in the competitions. While speaking during the inaugural ceremony, the Additional SP appreciated the Youth Services and Sports Department for organizing such a UT level competition. Sharing her experience about participating in National and International sports events, Additional SP said that sports play a crucial role in shaping the overall personality of the youth. She said that success and defeat are the two aspects of the sports activities but the spirit of sportsmanship teaches many things in life and it has been observed that the sports persons are always much disciplined and can handle different situations of life in an efficient and systematic manner She reiterated that District Administration is committed to provide the required platform to encourage youths. |
