NC, Congress reach agreement to share power in Kishtwar DDC

JAMMU, Feb 11: In a significant development towards formation of District Development Council in Kishtwar District, National Conference and Congress party reached an agreement on sharing of power which is slated to be settled for sharing of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
As per the details available with Early Times NC and Congress leaders Ghulam Mohammad Saroori and Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo held a one on one meeting at the residence of Congress leader who also happened to be the Vice President of the Pradesh Congress Committee and set the house in order with regard to the finalization of the power sharing agreement.
The sources said that the two leaders have decided that National Conference will stake the claim for Chairperson and the Congress party has settled for Vice Chairperson post. Insiders said that DDC member from Dachhan Pooja Bhandari had been chosen by the National Conference for Chairperson post while Congress party had finalized the name of Saima Shabir, DDC member from Mughal Maidan for the post of Vice Chairperson.
The sources said that the both parties had also decided to distribute the five year tenure among the elected women candidates and both Pooja Bhandari and Saima Shabir will hold the post for first two and half years followed by chance to other party candidates.
"The meeting between the controversial independent DDC member and the National Conference District President Kishtwar Tanveer Ahmed Kichoo was settled for Wednesday 7 PM at the residence of party District President which was later canceled following major uproar by the party supporters" said a NC leader wishing not to be named added that the party leaders instead advocated for joining hands with like mined Congress party so as to provide a stable District Development Council.
With both NC and Congress joining hands together in Kishtwar District, both parties will now have 10 DDC Members in the coalition.
