Jammu Superstars lifts JKS Range Championship

JAMMU, Feb 23: Jammu Superstars trounced Kathua Warriors by 7 wickets in a good contest and lifted the JKS Range Cricket Championship at KC Sports Cricket Ground, here today.
Mukesh Singh, IGP Jammu was the chief guest in the valedictory function, while Shridhar Patil SSP Jammu was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest IGP Jammu in presence of SSP Jammu, SSP Pawan Parihar, SP Rural Sanjay Sharma, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer & member Indian Cricket Association, Arjun Choudhary Managing Partner KC Sports Club, Kousheen Koul SDPO Domana, Amit Sharma SDPO West, Swati Sharma Dy. SP Hqrs., Hamid Choudhary Dy. SP DAR, RP Singh distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams alongwith cash award of Rs.25,000 to winning team and Rs.15,000 to the runner team.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Kathua Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 146 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Nikhil top scored with 46 runs , while Kawalpreet Singh ( 44) and Nishank (18 ) runs contributed to the total. From bowling side Amaan and kartik were the pick of the bowlers, who took 2 wickets each for the Jammu Superstars.
In reply, Jammu Superstars chased the target in 17.5 overs by losing 3 wickets thus won the match by 7 wickets. Achintiya played a good innings of 59 runs, while Kartik(27), Dhruv (24) and Rohan Gill (22) . For Kathua Warriors, Anubhav took 2 wickets while Vansh claimed 1 wicket.
Achintiya of Jammu Superstars was adjudged man of the match in the final match, kawalpreet and Anubhav of Kathua Warriors were declared Best Batsman & Best Batsman whereas Kartik of Jammu Superstars was declared man of the series award for alround performance in the Championship.
In his address, the Chief Guest IGP Jammu lauded the efforts of the DIG Jammu and his team in conducting this Range Level Cricket Championship for the Under- 19 boys wherein top players of three district are participated. He also complimented the Jammu Superstars team for their great performance in the tournament and winning the title trophy of the event.
The Chief Guest further said that he wish to see J&K players in IPL. IGP also announced that soon a mega Zonal Level Cricket Championship for the Under-19 cricketers of Jammu Province will be organized at Jammu.
The tournament was organized by Range Police Headquarters Jammu under the Civic Action Program of J&K Police and under the supervision of DIG Jammu Vivek Gupta and SSP Pawan Parihar. Rajesh Gill Former Ranji Player & Member Indian Cricket Association was the Coordinator of the Championship. The matches of the tournament were officiated by Sanjay Koul,Vijay Raina and Ashok Kumar. The proceedings of the Valediction function were conducted by RP Singh.
