SRINAGAR, Feb 23: Travelers consisted of 50 percent fresh cases of COVID-19 in Jammu & Kashmir as 94 more people got infected with the virus. Following this the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,019; death toll reached 1955 following one death in Kashmir valley. Srinagar district reported 40 fresh cases including 32 travelers followed by Jammu district 10 cases, Baramulla and Udhampur districts eight cases each, Pulwama district five cases, Budgam, Kupwara and Bandipora districts four cases each, Shopian district three cases, Anantnag, Kulgam, Kathua and Samba districts two cases each. No case was reported from Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Ramban, Reasi and Ganderbal districts. Pulwama district in Kashmir valley reported a fresh virus related death. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 94 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 22 from Jammu division and 72 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,019. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from the Kashmir division. Moreover, 62 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 25 from Jammu division and 37 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,019 positive cases, 766 are active positive, 1, 23,298 have recovered and 1,955 have died; 725 in Jammu division and 1,230 in Kashmir division. Out of 50, 62,994 test results available, 49, 36,975 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 12, 75,245 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,066 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 766 in isolation and 1, 09,495 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 28,963 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 26,834 positive cases, 342 active positive, 26,031 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,216 positive cases, 59 active positive, 7,982 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,867 positive cases, 49 active positive, 7,699 recovered, 119 deaths; Pulwama has 5,842 positive cases, 40 active positive, 5,712 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,677 positive cases, seven active positive, 5,574 recovered, 96 deaths. "Anantnag has 4,992 positive cases, 35 active positive, 4,871 recovered, 86 deaths; Bandipora has 4,713 positive cases, 18 active positive, 4,633 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,664 positive cases, 18 active positive, 4,599 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,721 positive cases, 13 active positive, 2,654 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,602 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,540 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,179 positive cases, 106 active positive, 24,700 recovered, 373 deaths; Udhampur has 4,267 positive cases, 28 active positive, 4,182 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, three active positive, 3,818 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,436 positive cases, one active positive, 3,371 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,258 positive cases, two active positive, 3,203 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,839 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,792 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,735 positive cases, two active positive, 2,711 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,520 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,482 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,646 positive cases, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,019 positive cases in J&K, 12,193 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
