CLUJ escapes transparency
‘Issues selection list for M.Ed, B.Ed candidates without merit’
2/24/2021 12:02:32 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 23: Resentment among the candidates, who have applied for the M.Ed and B.Ed training courses in Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), is brewing as the varsity has released the final selection list, without mentioning marks obtained by the successful aspirants.
Some unsuccessful candidates told Early Times that it has happened for the first time in the history of higher education, that selection lists were issued without merit or marks secured by the ‘successful’ candidates. “There is something fishy.
Even if the selected people have secured higher marks than us, the University should have followed proper admission procedure,” said a candidate, adding that recently the issue was highlighted by a student organisation, but the University administration didn’t take a note of it.
“We have never experienced such a thing in the past. It seems purely a pick and choose policy adopted by CLUJ. The provisional M.Ed. course merit list was disclosed in third week of January and on 5th of Feb 21 M.Ed course merit list along with percentage of merit was declared and accordingly eligible candidates were called for counseling on 8th Feb 21 and after proper documents verification and counseling by Committee from College of Education Jammu, the candidates, were asked to pay fee of Rs 14000 as fee”, another candidate said.
He said that CLUJ on 19th February, suddenly issued another list of candidates for allotment of seats without mentioning the percentage of merit against each candidate.
“A candidate at serial no 25 having high merit in list of 5th Feb and whose counseling was done and fee deposited on 8th Feb 21 has been dropped and candidates falling at serial Nos. 26 and 30 with less merit have been cleared for admission in the list issued on 19th Feb but their percentages have not been mentioned,” claimed the aggrieved candidate.
The aggrieved have urged Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, who is Chancellor of University, to look into the matter and save the career of deserving candidates.
