COVID-19 positive cases in JK reach 126853 following 81 new cases; one fresh death reported

SRINAGAR, Mar 5: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 81 new cases of Corona Virus following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 26,853. The death toll reached 1,960 as one death was reported from Jammu division in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 35 new cases including 13 travelers followed by Jammu district 14 cases, Baramulla district nine cases, Budgam district eight cases, Poonch district four cases, Anantnag district three cases, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Udhampur districts two cases each and a case each from Pulwama & Bandipora districts. Jammu district reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 81 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 20 from Jammu division and 61 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 26,853. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division.
Moreover, 72 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 31 from Jammu division and 41 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 26,853 positive cases, 891 are active positive, 1, 24,002 have recovered and 1,960 have died; 726 in Jammu division and 1,234 in Kashmir division.
Out of 53, 36,858 test results available, 52, 10,005 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 43,831 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 32,561 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 891 in isolation and 1, 10,892 in home surveillance. Besides, 11, 97,527 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,220 positive cases, 427 active positive, 26,332 recovered, 461 deaths; Baramulla has 8,299 positive cases, 75 active positive, 8,049 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,910 positive cases, 40 active positive, 7,750 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,876 positive cases, 46 active positive, 5,740 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,691 positive cases, 13 active positive, 5,581 recovered, 97 deaths.
“Anantnag has 5,044 positive cases, 37 active positive, 4,919 recovered, 88 deaths; Bandipora has 4,720 positive cases, 17 active positive, 4,641 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,676 positive cases, 14 active positive, 4,615 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,742 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,664 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,610 positive cases, 16 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,282 positive cases, 112 active positive, 24,796 recovered, 374 deaths; Udhampur has 4,318 positive cases, 49 active positive, 4,212 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, 3,821 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, two active positive, 3,374 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,265 positive cases, six active positive, 3,206 recovered, 53 deaths.
“Samba has 2,841 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, two active positive, 2,714 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,524 positive cases, four active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,648 positive cases, two active positive, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 26,853 positive cases in J&K, 12,457 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
