Jammu, Mar 5: Two months after conducting raids at the residence of her close aide in money laundering case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday summoned PDP president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti in a money laundering case on March 15 in Delhi, according to officials. On December 26, 2020, the ED had conducted raids at the residence of Mehbooba's close aide and ex-MLA Anjum Fazli in connection with the money laundering. Reliable sources said that the ED has summoned Mehbooba Mufti after getting some viral evidence during raid at the residence of Anjum Fazli. Reports said that 60-year-old PDP leader, who was released last year after more than a year in detention, has been served notice to appear at the ED headquarters in the national capital. SRINAGAR, Mar 5: Criticising the Enforcement Directorate summons to former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, People”s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) chairperson Farooq Abdullah on Friday said “political vendetta” would not help in improving the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The Centre should “put an end to this kind of vendetta” and allow democratic processes to continue smoothly, said Abdullah, also a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. “Political vendetta will not help in improving the situation in Jammu and Kashmir,” the National Conference chief added. rlier by the Early Times, the ED had seized over Rs 28 lakh case after it raided the premises of Fazli, who was nominated as MLA by Mehbooba Mufti from the quota of female MLA. It was reported that after conducting raids at the residences of Fazli in Srinagar and Delhi, central agencies have virtually reached near Mehbooba Mufti because Fazli is like a shadow of former chief minister. Mehbooba had had recently been re-elected as president of the PDP for a three-year term unanimously. Mehbooba moved the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, seeking its intervention for clearance of her passport application pending at the Regional Passport Office (RPO) here for nearly three months. Mehbooba had applied for a fresh passport in December last year after its expiry on May 31. However, her passport application has not been cleared till date due to want of a police verification report, officials said. |
