Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 18: Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra in collaboration with Department of Mass Communication & New Media, Central University of Jammu organized a day-long Webinar on "Emerging Trends in Media: Challenges and Career Opportunities". The chief patrons of the programme were Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice chancellor, Central University of Jammu and Prof. Peerzada Mohd.Yusuf, Director Colleges, HED, J&K. The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address given by Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, Principal GDC, Sidhra. In this session, the key note speaker was Prof. K.G Suresh, Vice Chancellor, Makhan Lal Chaturrvedi Journalism University, Bhopal, who spoke eloquently about the role and significance of media in Covid times, i.e media persons as front liners. He emphasised on the flip side of media, i.e challenges a media person usually faces like safety and security issues. The session moved ahead with the address of Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, who categorically stressed upon the different key areas of opportunity in media that one can leverage. The first session was held by a resource person , Dr Sweta Singh, Assistant Professor, and course coordinator, Guru Gobind Singh , Indraprastha University, New Delhi, who explicitly articulated on Citizen journalism and stressed on its evolving nature. The Resource person for the second session of day was Prof. Anubhuti Yadav, Head, Department of New Media and information technology, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi who threw light upon "Digital Media : Emerging Career Opportunities" and enlightened the participants with new avenues in the field of digital media. |
