SRINAGAR, Mar 18: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in COVID-19 cases as 140 fresh cases were reported in past 24 hours following which the total number of positive cases reached 1, 28,097. With one fresh death the death toll due to the virus reached 1,978.
Srinagar district reported 75 new cases of Corona Virus including 28 travelers followed by Jammu district 20 cases, Baramulla district 17 cases, Budgam and Anantnag districts six cases each, Shopian district five cases, Pulwama, Kulgam, Udhampur and Kathua districts two cases each and Kupwara, Bandipora & Doda districts one case each. Srinagar district reported a fresh virus related death.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 140 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 25 from Jammu division and 115 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 28,097. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 74 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 16 from Jammu division and 58 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 28,097 positive cases, 1,073 are active positive, 1, 25,046 have recovered and 1,978 have died; 731 in Jammu division and 1,247 in Kashmir division.
Out of 56, 63,272 test results available, 55, 35,175 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 14, 10,688 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 29,806 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 1,073 in isolation and 1, 19,969 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 57,862 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,810 positive cases, 536 active positive, 26,809 recovered, 465 deaths; Baramulla has 8,447 positive cases, 102 active positive, 8,167 recovered, 178 deaths; Budgam has 7,995 positive cases, 59 active positive, 7,816 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,916 positive cases, 30 active positive, 5,794 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,726 positive cases, 19 active positive, 5,610 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,101 positive cases, 21 active positive, 4,988 recovered, 92 deaths; Bandipora has 4,732 positive cases, 11 active positive, 4,659 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,690 positive cases, 14 active positive, 4,629 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,757 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,688 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,631 positive cases, 22 active positive, 2,569 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,457 positive cases, 197 active positive, 24,882 recovered, 378 deaths; Udhampur has 4,328 positive cases, 10 active positive, 4,261 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,879 positive cases, two active positive, 3,822 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,445 positive cases, five active positive, 3,376 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,273 positive cases, four active positive, 3,216 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,843 positive cases, two active positive, 2,800 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,739 positive cases, one active positive, 2,716 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,535 positive cases, 15 active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135 positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,658 positive cases, eight active positive, 1,634 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 28,097 positive cases, 12,747 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
