Is Govt meticulously sidelining non-performing bureaucrats in JK admin? | After recent overhaul, yet another major reshuffle on cards | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 18: After the recent major reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir administration, one more overhaul is on cards as bureaucrats heading the key departments in the union territory are likely to get transferred. Sources revealed that the scrutiny at the highest level is being done at present and that the government is in the final stage of compilation of the draft that could pave the way for the postings of officers in different departments in J&K. “Extreme caution is being adopted in ordering these transfers. It is going to be yet another overhaul in the administration very soon. The emphasis is being laid out to maximize performance on the ground with shirker bureaucracy being meticulously sidelined,” top sources within the administration told Early Times. “The key posts that are being filled in the next reshuffle will be in the Education, Culture and Agriculture departments besides a few additional secretaries will also be moved,” sources added. They said that the post of Director of School Education and Director of Agriculture will be filled in addition to moving many administrative officers. “The post of Administrative Secretary of the Cultural Department fell vacant after IAS Kritika Jyotsna, was transferred and posted as DC Ganderbal. Apart from this, the post of Director of School Education Jammu has fallen vacant after Anuradha Gupta was recently posted as DC Samba. The post of Director of Agriculture Department is also vacant. In such a situation, another administrative reshuffle is expected soon,” sources claimed. Meanwhile reports inform that the “non-performing and shirker” bureaucrats are being sagaciously sidelined by the government and the posts are being distributed on merit and past performances. “Gone are the days when lobbying would have secured you a preferable posting. The system is no longer in vogue. There are clear-cut directions from the Government of India that the postings of officers must be done in a transparent and just manner and that there should be no scope for any partiality and prejudice in any such exercise. Earlier the officers even without performing well used to get choicest postings without much scrutiny. The focus of the administration is to eradicate that process forever,” said a senior official. It may be recalled that in a major reshuffle, 21 Indian Administrative Service officers were among 34 top officials transferred in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night. The transfers and postings included shifting of 12 Deputy Commissioners and a Divisional Commissioner of Jammu region. |
