Jammu, Mar 18: JDA today held plantation drive in a park behind the office of Election Commission of India, Rail Head Complex, Jammu. During this drive, 100 Environment friendly, medicinal, Herbal, ornamental plants of different species viz Amla, Jamun, Arjun, Mango, Chir, Chinar, bougan wilia, Raat ki rani, China Rose etc. were planted. The drive was kick started by Babila Rakwal, V.C, JDA in the presence of Mohinder Gupta, Regional Director who was accompanied by Hitaishi Sharma, DFO alongwith many officers from Social Forestry. Moreover, engineering wing comprising Sushil Kumar, Executive Engineer, JDA, Gopal Sharma, AEE and other engineers also participated in the drive. Speaking on this occasion, Rakwal said that such drives will be in routine now for proper implementation of Green law in and around JDA parks for which deptt has set a target of planting appropriately 1lac trees during the year. She also said that every citizen shall plant a tree on the occasion of his birthday or his family members or in the memory of his nearer and dears. Instructions were issued to JDA officers and officials identify the vacant spaces where plantation can be done to make Jammu clean and green. |
