Director Horticulture visits Grapes Farm at Maralian | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 18: With the mission to achieve the objective for the production of quality planting material to be easily available for the farmers in the departmental nurseries, Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, visited Govt. Grape Farm, Maralian where he inspected the various developmental activities being carried out there. Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu Sarbjit Singh briefed the Director about the newly established mother blocks of elite cultivars of Grapes at Govt. Grape Farm Maralian besides new cultivar, Nabilla of Strawberry whose 10,000 plants have been planted for further multiplication so that farmers can get these plants in the coming season. He also inspected other developmental activities like ongoing works for installation of shade net structure, micro irrigation system etc. and instructed the concerned Horticulture Development Officer to bring more area under new cultivars of grapes and stressed for early installation of Rain gun so that irrigation facilities can be easily accessible to the nursery plants. Deputy Director Horticulture, Shafiqa Khalid, Chief Canning Instructor Vikas Anand, Deputy Director Planning Ankita Sharma and other officers accompanied the Director during the tour. |
