| Agriculture Deptt Organized “Farmers Fair” at Bhatyai Dansal | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 18: Department of Agriculture organized “Farmers Fair” in Far-flung Village Bhatyai, Sub Division Dansal in which hundreds of farmers participated to get themselves acquainted with latest farming techniques. The farmers visited the stalls of Agriculture related machinery equipments and inputs displayed by the Private Companies and progressive farmers. The progressive farmers displayed very good quality exhibits in the exhibition for which they were awarded with 1st, 2nd 3rd & consolation prizes. Prem Singh, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Dansal besides highlighting ongoing departmental schemes requested the farmers to shift to Spices, Medicinal/Aromatic Plants, Flower cultivation as these crops are not damaged by Monkey which is a serious threat to field crops in the area.
He stressed that the cultivation of Lemon Grass besides putting check on monkey menace may be proved as game changer in getting many fold jump in farm income of kandi area farmers. During technical session the experts delivered lectures on vital aspects of farming sectors to counter the farming challenges of Dansal Sub Division which is near about 100% rain fed. |
