DB disposes of PIL seeking policy to control monkey menace | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 26: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by People Organization for Welfare and Environment Reconstruction Jammu seeking to highlight the menace created by monkeys, Neel Gai as well as stray cattle and seeks appropriate directions to control the same by formulating a policy or an action plan in that regard, a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court comprising Chief Justice Sindhu Sharma after hearing Sr. Adv Gagan Basotra for the PIL whereas Advocate General DC Raina for the disposal of the writ petition with liberty to the petitioner to submit an appropriate and a comprehensive representation in this regard before the Secretary, Forest Environment and Ecology Department, Jammu, within a period of two weeks, who shall examine the same and take appropriate action on it in accordance with the law most expeditiously. DB further made clear that court has not treated the petition as public interest litigation nor has expressed any opinion on any aspect of the matter involved in the petition. (JNF)
