CLUJ’s Deptt of English organizes online GAB-FEST

JAMMU, Mar 26: The Department of English, School of Humanities & Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ) organized online GAB-FEST today to commemorate World Theatre Day. Welcome address was delivered by Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Student Welfare and Coordinator, Department of English, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, CLUJ wherein she encouraged the budding talent to showcase their theatrical talents and reiterated the need to revive the genre of theatre as it is a strong tool for self expression , creativity, compassion, empathy and human emotions.
The participants from the respective PGI English Hons (School of Humanities & Liberal Arts)/ U.G. English Hons (Govt MAM College) came up with different dialogues, monologues, speeches, and delivered them with great fondness and zeal. Theatre is a way of life. It helps to promote social discourse, dialogue and potential social change.
All the participants were given two minutes to deliver their favourite dialogues from the famous plays. Dr Geetanjali A. Rana, Dean Faculty of Arts gave her insights on the performances and motivated the students to aspire higher and indulge in diverse arenas of performing Arts as it gives an opportunity to explore human conditions from different perspective, thereby enhancing over understanding and expression. The jury comprised of Dr Banpreet Kour (Associate Professor, Department of English, Govt MAM College) and Prof Neeraj Sharma (Associate Professor, Department of English, Govt
MAM College) lauded the efforts of the students and motivated them to stage plays which could further hone their diction and expression.
The Ist position was bagged by Nikita (P.G.I English Hons. Sem. 3, Department of English, School of Humanities & Liberal Arts), IInd position was bagged by Ajaz Ahmed (P. G. I. English Hons., Sem. 5, Department of English , School of Humanities & Liberal Arts) &IIIrd positions was bagged by Sarthika Sharma (P.G.I. English Hons. Sem.3, Department of English, School of Humanities & Liberal Arts).
