RAMBAN, Apr 06: In view of the ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2021, the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today held a meeting to finalize the arrangements for making drinking water supply available to the pilgrims in a hassle-free manner. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Harbans Lal, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Nazir Jaral and other senior officers of the Jal Shakti Department attended the meeting. The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is scheduled to begin from June 28 up to August 22 this year. ADC, Ramban, who is also the Nodal Officer SANJY 2021, briefed the meeting about the need to make adequate water supply available in light of the increase in the holding area of the district from existing 4000 to 10000 this year. He added that in order to meet out the requirement of potable drinking water, additional water tankers shall be deployed to ensure continued supply to the pilgrims. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Jal Shakti Department to ensure that dedicated water supply is extended to the yatris at all the new holding areas to be set up to accommodate the pilgrims in view of the suspension of yatra and closure of roads due to inclement weather. The meeting also finalized the total requirement of water storage, gravity mains and installation of distribution system for supply of regular water supply to the holding areas.
