SRINAGAR, Apr 6: As 561 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported in the past 24 hours the total number of positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 34,015; following two fresh deaths the death toll has reached 2,012. Srinagar district reported 222 new cases including 63 travelers followed by Jammu district 99 cases, Baramulla district 54 cases, Udhampur district 37 cases including 33 travelers, Budgam district 34 cases, Kulgam district 26 cases, Kathua district 14 cases, Anantnag district 13 cases, Ganderbal district 11 cases, Pulwama, Shopian and Rajouri districts seven cases each, Reasi district six cases, Kupwara, Bandipora, Doda and Samba districts five cases each and Poonch district four cases. Srinagar district reported two fresh virus related deaths as well. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 561 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 177 from Jammu division and 384 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 34,015. Also two COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 230 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 52 from Jammu division and 178 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 34,015 positive cases, 4,483 are active positive, 1, 27,520 have recovered and 2,012 have died; 741 in Jammu division and 1,271 in Kashmir division. Out of 62, 86,013 test results available, 61, 51,998 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 56,065 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 59,701 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,483 in isolation and 1, 21,399 in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 68,470 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 30,170 positive cases, 1,668 active positive, 28,026 recovered, 476 deaths; Baramulla has 9,284 positive cases, 627 active positive, 8,476 recovered, 181 deaths; Budgam has 8,451 positive cases, 335 active positive, 7,995 recovered, 121 deaths; Pulwama has 6,039 positive cases, 110 active positive, 5,837 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,883 positive cases, 120 active positive, 5,666 recovered, 97 deaths. “Anantnag has 5,256 positive cases, 98 active positive, 5,062 recovered, 96 deaths; Bandipora has 4,824 positive cases, 77 active positive, 4684 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,762 positive cases, 64 active positive, 4,649 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 2,962 positive cases, 192 active positive, 2,714 recovered, 56 deaths and Shopian has 2,678 positive cases, 43 active positive, 2,595 recovered, 40 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 26,392 positive cases, 781 active positive, 25,228 recovered, 383 deaths; Udhampur has 4,429 positive cases, 90 active positive, 4,281 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,924 positive cases, 37 active positive, 3,831 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,471 positive cases, 16 active positive, 3,391 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,415 positive cases, 90 active positive, 3,272 recovered, 53 deaths. “Samba has 2,889 positive cases, 40 active positive, 2,808 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,757 positive cases, one active positive, 2,734 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,563 positive cases, 29 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,165 positive cases, 24 active positive, 2,119 recovered, 22 deaths and Reasi has 1,701 positive cases, 41 active positive, 1,644 recovered, 16 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 34,015 positive cases in J&K, 13,944 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
